Wet insulation can become a serious mold risk if moisture is not removed and eradicated from the system. When certified thermographer Jim Eurton of APOC completed an infrared thermography inspection for a multi-family high rise in Honolulu, Hawaii, he immediately recognized moisture around the exhaust and pipe vents, the walk pads, near the stairwell and around the parapet walls. He explained to the building owner, “It is important to remove and eradicate moisture, especially wet insulation as it has nowhere to go besides down through the deck. The result is a serious mold risk.”
Upon completion of core sample testing, Jim provided options for roof restoration. In partnership with APOC, the roofing contractor was able to deliver roof restoration for a fraction of the cost of a roof replacement.
The infrared readings detected moisture from the wall at the stairwell building proving this area appeared to have ponding water issues.
The APOC System, AM-BU-585, selected for this restoration, delivered a durable, waterproof membrane over the existing roof surface which had retained structural integrity but had become weathered and deteriorated.
