Everest Filling a gap in the coatings world

The story behind Everest Systems’ success in the industry with high-performance products. 

In a recent episode of CoatingsCast, Karen Edwards met up with John Linnell and Gabe Goepfert from Everest Systems. The duo came to talk about their work with Everest and where the company fits into the larger industry. Everest as a company works in multiple areas, John, Everest’s Owner and Founder, explained, “Everest is a manufacturer of several different roofing product technologies. We manufacture acrylic coatings, silicone coatings, polyurethane foam and specialty sealants.” Gabe, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, elaborated on their goal, “We want to make the contractor successful. So we try and approach everything from that version of what's going on with the contractor, what are their needs and what things can we put in their hands - because this whole business is based on the contractor and that contractor being able to service the building owner, getting them a successful restoration on the roof.” 

Another big thing that sets Everest apart from the crowd is John’s background. He started his career at a company called Rohm and Haas (now Dow) which is a chemical company that supplies the coatings industry. This background was super helpful, as John explained, “It gave me a really good outlook on the various approaches to the industry. And from that I sort of gathered that there was an opening in the marketplace to make high-performance products. What I was seeing out there that roof coating systems were considered more of a paint job than a legitimate roofing system.” 

This was one of the things that inspired him to start Everest — he knew he could fill the gap in the market by selling high-performance roof coatings and sealants. From there, he was able to use his background in chemistry to develop a quality line of products. This background, combined with Everest’s small business operations size is one of the things that keeps them ahead of the game in the industry. Gabe explained, “We have that sweet spot within our group of people that is, we're not so big that we still can be very customer-facing, but at the same time we have the experience of what some of these larger companies bring to the market as well.”
