ABC Supply sped toward its donation match goal for Homes For Our Troops in the 106th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, raising not only money, but awareness of the organization as a whole.

The Indy 500 held a special place in ABC Supply’s heart this year, as ahead of the race, the company partnered with AJ Foyt Racing to shine a national spotlight on Homes For Our Troops. This nonprofit builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans to enable them to rebuild their lives. And this year, ABC Supply matched donations given to Homes For Our Troops throughout the week of the Indy 500 up to $1 million.

Homes For Our Troops invests nearly 90% of its donations directly back into its mission, so it relies mostly on word-of-mouth awareness instead of paid advertising. By volunteering the design of ABC Supply’s 2022 No. 11 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet, the company was able to raise awareness for an organization it is incredibly passionate about and has been a multimillion-dollar supporter of since 2020.

The car’s red, white and blue design featured the Homes For Our Troops logo and paid homage to the Veterans that the organization supports. Driver J.R. Hildebrand and his crew were also decked out in special Homes For Our Troops uniforms.

The race began under sunny skies for J.R. and the Homes For Our Troops team, but three untimely cautions sent the No. 11 Chevrolet to the rear of the field, which forced the team to “make lemonade out of lemons.” However, fast pit stops and strategy calls helped J.R. claw his way back through the field to a 12th place finish.

ABC Supply invited some Homes For Our Troops Veterans to watch the race with them and had a blast seeing this special car pay tribute to America’s brave servicemen and women.

“We are blown away by the generosity of those who supported Homes For Our Troops throughout our matching donation campaign,” says Mike Jost, chief operating officer at ABC Supply. “And we also want to congratulate J.R. Hildebrand and everyone at AJ Foyt Racing for a fantastic showing at this year’s Indianapolis 500. The excitement of the race provided an excellent backdrop to spread the word about the great work Homes For Our Troops is doing.”

America rallied behind the cause and donated over $1 million to the organization. Along with the match, they raised more than $2 million to support Veterans.

ABC Supply is proud to be in the United States of America and grateful for those who have served and protected. While the donation match has ended, you can still join ABC Supply in Building Homes and Rebuilding Lives for Veterans by donating to Homes For Our Troops at hfotusa.org
