How CoatingsCoffeeShop™ is moving the industry forward

Roof coatings are something that few people may think about when they look at their roof, but they offer great benefits to keeping buildings in good condition.  

Host Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Sara Jones from APOC for the first episode of the CoatingsCast podcast to talk about the launch of the CoatingsCoffeeShop™ site. APOC is the site’s sponsor, and Sara explained that, even beyond APOC’s business interest as a seller of a variety of roof coating products, she got really interested in the depth of the field last summer. She explained how she had a roofing contractor at her own house and her personal conversation with him became professional when Sara brought up the topic of roof coatings 

As they discussed roof coatings, she found out that he was from a smaller, niche business and was interested in roof coatings, but didn’t know where to learn more about them. This was not the first time Sara had found people with an interest in coatings without access to more information. She shared, “To somebody who's already in the industry, it might seem obvious where to go to find everything on coatings or how to get started in coatings. But if you're not doing it today, it may not be so obvious.” 

On the other side of things, Heidi was putting together CoatingsCoffeeShop with the mindset of creating a way to bring the industry together. She shared her desire to create a community, saying, “[We can] lift the industry together and make such a difference.” When Sara heard about this, she knew APOC had to jump at the chance to join in. Sara explained that her excitement went beyond her personal experiences of meeting people looking for the educational resources that the new site offers. She shared, “It'll also just lead into new technologies. If you back up and think about just coatings in general and where it's gone, it's amazing the changes in technology. And we're really just beginning.” By bringing experts like Sara together, CoatingsCoffeeShop is helping the industry reach more people and step into the future.
