Making a statement with Duro-Last custom fabrications

Duro last Making a statement with Duro-Last custom fabrications

Learn how this roofing company transformed their warehouse to be more energy efficient and stylish.

When faced with his aging warehouse in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, Tom Scanlon knew there was only one product he would trust for the job — Duro-Last. Tom, who is a general manager of Hi-Tech Roofing and Sheet Metal, explained, “Our building is a classic warehouse. We knew we were going to do a retrofit recover, but we wanted to make it special, both of which Duro-Last excels at, so our decision was a no-brainer.”

Tom and Hi-Tech have spent over two decades installing and protecting buildings in their community, so they knew exactly what they wanted. To get the project off the ground, they covered their skylights and started applying the Duro-Guard EPS on the existing standing seam roof. With the ISO insulation and custom-fabricated membrane deck sheets on top to finish it, they had a smooth finish and enhanced energy efficiency. Further, the Hi-Tech team was able to use the Duro-Bond plates and termination bar to not only meet but exceed their area’s strict code requirements.

The custom rooftop logo was just the cherry on top. Tom explained, “My thought process was, if someone Googles our business, they’re going to see a lot of warehouses with older roofs and our bright white roof with a bold logo popping right out at them. I want them to zoom in and say, ‘Oh wow, they did this to their own building! That’s the kind of quality they invest in their own company and that’s what I want for my building.’” This custom work was made possible with Duro-Last's custom rooftop lettering, which was printed on membrane in sections and then delivered in rolls ready to roll out. Tom shared that the process was incredibly intuitive and simple, sharing, “Each logo section was marked and connected by little strings, so we just positioned everything in the order it was attached and followed the diagram that was provided.”

It took their five-person crew only five days to finish the over 16,000 square foot installation and the project has a 15-Year NDL Warranty on it as well!
