Meet Nick Little - Winner of this Week’s Optical Comparator

This week’s winner of the General Coatings optical comparator is Nick Little, national service director at Nations Roof. Nick and I talked on the phone and I have to admit that one of the first things I asked him was if he knew what an optical comparator even was? (I didn’t – had to google it). He laughed when I asked and said yes, he also supports the Nations Roof locations on the production of coating projects so knew what it was. But he did say that he has never used one, he’s only used a wet mil gauge so is looking forward to receiving that comparator to try it out.

Next, I asked the question that I ask everyone I interview – how did you get into roofing? Nick said that he has been in roofing since 2006. He’s had multiple roles since then but is holding true to the adage of ‘once in roofing, always in roofing.’

He worked for many years as an outside sales consultant for The Home Depot in their roofing, siding, windows division before joining a large national roofing contractor. Now he’s been at Nations Roof for the past three and a half years.

I asked Nick what he likes most about working in the roofing industry. “There are great people in this great industry. It’s like a small world!” he shared. “I like that we can truly be problem-solvers for our customers.”

He also shared that he appreciates the diversity in the different roofing systems. “No two roofs are the same,” he said.

Nick learned about the General Coatings optical comparator giveaway because he saw it in the RCS Week-in-Review email and decided to enter. He said that he really enjoys the information in the email and intends to spend more time on the website to see what else he can learn. “I see RoofersCoffeeShop team at IRE every year, and I know Heidi,” Nick said. “I want to get even more involved.”

When Nick isn’t working, he enjoys doing construction work and remodeling on his home and those of his family members. He’s done a lot of roofing as part of that. He also really enjoys working on old cars.
