Remembering Larry Stanley

RCS remembers the founder of IB Roof Systems, who would have turned 83 this year. 

The story of how IB Roof Systems grew from a small distribution company in a back bedroom into a nationwide manufacturer of single-ply PVC membranes and fluid applied silicone and acrylic coatings for commercial and residential systems is nothing short of legendary. This is thanks to the legacy of Larry Stanley. 

In the mid-70s Stanley and his wife decided to start a roofing distribution company. And as the company grew, they included their five boys in the family business. Today, their five sons have carried on his legacy and taken the business to the next level, becoming a leading manufacturer of single-ply roofing systems. 

Larry was a businessman, father, grandfather, husband and friend. The success of IB Roof Systems is owed to the values Larry instilled in his sons: hard work, do it right and know you'll never fail if you get back up and try again. 

IB Roof Systems has a new education center, The Stanley education center, dedicated to their late founder that intends to carry on Larry’s spirit of teaching, which revolved around this quote from Benjamin Franklin, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” The goal of this education center is to bring in contractors and teach them how to improve upon the industry. This facility will allow IB Roof Systems to make the industry better one customer at a time.
