There are so many amazing benefits for both contractors and owners to utilizing film from DuPont™ Tedlar®, and Heidi J. Ellsworth of RoofersCoffeeShop checked in with DuPont™ Tedlar® representatives Corryn Sheridan and Tara Faulkner at the 2023 International Roofing Expo (IRE) to discuss some of those advantages.
One of the major perks is that the film protects the metal from corroding over time. “It's very chemically resistant, which means that it does not corrode in even the most corrosive environments, including coastal applications and industrial applications. Basically, anywhere that paint systems are known to fail, Tedlar is going to hold up there and it's a self-cleaning material. So, salt right at the beach is going to rinse right off of it. You can clean graffiti off of it. It’s really almost like a bulletproof protection for metal,” Corryn shared.
Since this is a product that’s used outside, it’s crucial that it can withstand the elements, but it’s also important that the color won’t alter over time due to its exposure. Corryn explained that over long periods of time you won’t be able to notice any fading. “Tedlar essentially does not change color in any way that's visible to the human eye. So, you're going to have a guaranteed new look for as long as that that roof is up and that warranty stands.”
At IRE, contractors were excited to see the product in action at DuPont™ Tedlar®’s booth. The main reaction to the film was how amazing it performs compared to other products. Tara told Heidi, “One of the things that are eager to look at are the keys that we have comparing existing Tedlar installations to current product that you can actually hold right up to the original install and you don't see the fade. So they're really excited about that with the exposures, especially here in this Texas market. This is a really ideal product.”
