The Vegetative Roofing for the Design Professional course is structured for those who design vegetative green roofs or who are responsible for correcting vegetative green roof thermal- or moisture-protection performance problems. Vegetative green roof design is a technically demanding and evolving growth industry. This live virtual course provides guidance in the areas of design criteria, system selection, reference standards, and flashing principles and discusses the influences of FM Global, ASTM, GRHC, and NRCA publications and guidelines. The course is focused on the specific aspects of thermal and moisture performance with an introduction to green roof vegetation and soil considerations. It is not intended to provide in-depth information on plants or growing media.
Join speaker, Douglas C. Fishburn, RRO, Green Roof Professional, and moderator Samir Ibrahim, F-IIBEC, EIA, CSI, on Tuesday, June 11–Wednesday, June 12, 2024, 12:00–4:00 p.m. ET.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
Explain the process of system selection in vegetative roofing design projects.
Discuss thermal and moisture design considerations, soil considerations, and basic green roof vegetation.
Identify guidelines and references, including FM Global, ASTM, GHRC, and NRCA, used for design criteria.
Identify the appropriate details and flashing methods to ensure an effective waterproofing system in a vegetative environment.
