In this new episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth met with Beacon Building Products’ Katy Rebernak and Leap’s Alexandra Bohannon to discuss their new partnership and how it helps roofing professionals bring their ordering process into the digital age. This exciting new partnership allows contractors and professionals to order their Beacon materials directly within Leap’s customer relationship management (CRM) system.
One of the biggest priorities for this collaboration was creating a seamless experience for contractors in the field. Katy explained, “Beacon is committed to helping contractors order in the software that they already use. We want to make it as seamless as possible to do business with us. One of those great ways is finding great CRM companies like Leap who have developed an end-to-end customer experience that help roofers manage every step of that journey.” On Leap’s side, they are always looking for partnerships that share their core values of putting people first. Alexandra shared, “With Beacon, we saw their values, putting people first, doing the right thing, that's really in alignment with what we do here at Leap. With that and the mutual customer base that Katy already referenced, this partnership just made sense as the industry’s future is going to be full of material integrations into the technology people already use.”
In action, this partnership allows professionals to create materials lists, get estimates and have products delivered easily and securely. The first step to this process is having a Beacon ProPlus account. Having this account is one of the things that makes this ordering process so secure, as Alexandra explained, “Within the account, you have the company managed accounts where each user that's trying to place an order needs their own unique credentials. Some material suppliers don't require that, but that's one thing that we really like about Beacon is that extra layer of security, where you can kind of trace the line of command all the way back to that one person.”
From there, you can start building out your materials estimate to send to your customer. Once they approve it, all it takes is one click to transform the estimate into an order that is received by the team at Beacon. Katy shared what happens next, saying, “When we get the order, we put it into our order management system, and then someone at the local Beacon branch checks that order in detail. So every single line item is getting looked at. This means, a local inside sales rep can give the contractor a call to clarify the order, like ‘Hey, I noticed that you have let's say like black caulk, but the roof is brown, the shingles are brown. Is that what you intended to do?’”
