In this episode of CoatingsCast™, Heidi J. Ellsworth spoke to Fernando Silva from Pli-Dek about their products and the process of installing them. Pli-Dek has been known in the commercial waterproofing world since 1998 for their unparalleled performance and service. As a part of this commitment to quality, Pli-Dek ensures that all of their products follow the sloping regulations with ADA compliance. In addition to meeting regulations like this, Pli-Dek wants to help contractors and applicators have all the tools and preparation strategies needed to succeed. Fernando explained, “Preparation is your number one factor in making sure a coatings system works properly. Making sure that you're using the right flashing around the perimeter, using the right components, the right nails, the right staples, using your metal lathe, mixing the product with the right amount of components is key.”
Pli-Dek prides themselves on their ability to help contractors get these tools and learn these methods. Fernando shared how they achieve this, saying, “The biggest thing is that we always answer our phones. We're always there for their hard questions, especially when they have a weird detail. I can pick up the phone and if I don't know, I have a group of people that can actually help me out and get that information for them.”
In addition to this, they run what is called the Pli-Dek certified installers program. This takes it a step further than answering the phone, as Fernando explained, “In this program, we have a group of people like myself who can personally train the applicator and show them everything they need to know about Pli-Dek and what components to use for different aspects of the waterproofing application.” Through this program, they are able to train installers and ensure that the Pli-Dek products are installed correctly for optimal performance. This helps all parties involved, Pli-Dek gets the assurance that their products are used optimally, installers can work confidently without worrying about call backs and the business owners know they are getting a quality roof.
