Learn how Central Coating Company took home the SPFA 2023 National Industry Excellence Award for this huge roof coating project.

Each year, the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) presents the winners of their National Industry Excellence Awards at the SprayFaom Convention and Expo. They carefully evaluated nearly 100 entries from SPFA members to decide which roof coating jobs were the best of the best. This year, in the Roof SPF More Than 40,000 Square Feet category, Central Coating Company took home the top prize for their Paseo Plaza homeowners association (HOA) roofing project.

The Paseo Plaza in California was in desperate need of a roof restoration after multiple HVAC platform leaks. The roof also needed to meet CA Title 24 insulation requirements of R-10, plus the entire roof spans 82,500 square feet. Central Coating Company certainly had their work cut out for them, but they easily overcame all project challenges.

Central Coating Company completed the job in just 14 weeks with a highly skilled team of seven roofers. They remounted 238 heat pump units onto new curbs and coordinated with homeowners there to manage the HVAC downtime. They also had to have a zero-lot-line construction with a jobsite setup on the city streets. The new spray foam roof they installed came with a 20-year warranty and R-10 insulation, meeting the CA Title 24 insulation requirements. The plaza’s HOA was pleased with the results as well, as their choice of materials saved them over one million dollars.

The SPFA judges each project using an independent panel who scores the entries based on quality of work, uniqueness, speed of installation, ability to solve challenges and safety considerations. Because of the scale of this project and their skilled and speedy installation, Central Coating Company came out on top with this re-roofing job!
