You don’t want to miss this CoatingsTalk with Alan Tatum and Jon Feick from Bitec! Alan is an experienced commercial roofing technical manager and has worked in the industry for over 30 years. He has experience in everything from fluid applied roofing and flashing systems to the estimating and sales side of the industry. Jon is a sales and technical representative in Bitec’s North Texas region. His work at Bitec is backed with over 20 years of sales experience and companies like Viking Products and Paradigm Roofing.
This CoatingsTalk features the two of them talking to Host Karen Edwards about the importance of roof inspections and making sure that the solution that is decided upon matches the needs of the roof. A key part of this that the duo will discuss is how the needs of the roof can be affected by a variety of factors, such as the business owner’s goals, the tenants’ daily lives and the project’s budget.
Another point they highlight during this conversation is when a coating/liquid-applied system can restore a roof or if it needs an entire tear-off and reroof. They pose considerations, such as whether the owner plans to sell or the lifespan they are looking for from the repair, that can help determine this process. Alan and Jon also talk about the ensuing steps if it is determined that a repair is the best solution. This includes a discussion of the benefits of different material options including modified bitumen, coal tar pitch, BUR and coatings. Overall, this CoatingsTalk will help building owners and contractors optimize roof inspections and build strong communication chains that enable the creation of sustainable, long-term roofing solutions.
