Recently, our crew got the chance to attend the Western Roofing Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. Not only is this the premier regional roofing and waterproofing event in the United States, but it was also celebrating the Western States Roofing Contractors Association’s 50th anniversary and saw record attendance! Between attending incredible education sessions and fun networking events, our crew also got to catch up with friends, new and old, for some interviews! For one, Heidi J. Ellsworth invited Rich Sielaff from Everest Systems onto The Coffee Shops soundstage to hear about what they’ve been up to and what they have planned for next year!
Rich has been in the coatings industry for over four decades and is now a technical sales manager at Everest. He shared that one of the things that sets Everest apart from other companies in the coatings sector is their owner. He shares, “We’re a coatings manufacturer that also manufactures spray foam and silicone. One of the best things about our company is our owner is a chemist, so we're on the cutting edge of innovation.”
Recently, they have been working on new products, such as fillers, to help supply the growing coatings market. In the last few years, coatings have quickly risen to be a prime sector of the larger roofing industry. This is due to a rising client interest in roof restoration and energy efficiency options, along with a desire in contractors to diversify their offerings. Rich shared a bit about how important diversifying is, saying, “When you work with coatings, you no longer just have new construction opportunities. We're also about protecting and restoration, and that's non-stop. That's a good place to be in your business.”
