This year, the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA) hosted their 102nd Florida Roofing Expo in Kissimmee, Florida. While there, RoofersCoffeeShop® crew member Karen Edwards sat down with Shane Norman of Malco Tools in a live interview. Shane is one of Malco’s product managers and oversees their “portfolio of roofing, siding and gutter tools.”
He explained that their goal at the FRSA expo was to highlight Malco’s wide variety of tools designed for standing seam metal installation and fabrication. Shane went on to list what some of these tools can do, arguing, “Really any type of fabrication that the trade pros might have to do on site for metal bending, creating open and closed hems and so forth.” All these tools are designed to give professionals in the field a high-quality experience and Malco has proven the value of them over the last 75 years. Attendees of the expo got to see this firsthand at their booth with the live demos they were providing.
In addition to displaying their long history of quality tools, Shane gave a few sneak previews for what’s coming up at the company. One of his spoilers was a new two-inch seamer and cutter releasing this summer! He explained, “This is a power-assisted seamer. So, you can use your drill that you're going to have on your job site regardless, and then now you can do more of that commercial panel, that two-inch profile with that tool.” The next thing he mentioned was their Head of Class program, which is happening again this upcoming fall. He explained the purpose of this program, sharing, “We really want to try to help support those trade pros that are entering any of the various trades. And we think that's a really good way for us to get in front of those new trade professionals and get to know us and our role in the space.”
