Technology is a crucial and deeply integrated part of our daily lives. For many jobs, it enables employees to be more connected and efficient and the contracting industry is no exception. In this episode of RoofingRoadTrips™, Karen Edwards talks to Pam Torrey from Ingage about how to best use tech in the contracting industry.
Pam is the director of marketing at Ingage and has worked with them for over four years now. She explained some of her background, saying, “Prior to joining Ingage, I did marketing and lead generation and event management for a FinTech company based in Chicago where I live. And then before that I did B2B sales at Apple for a couple of years.” This history of work in the area where marketing and technology intersect means that she has had a front row seat to the ways tech has changed the game over the last couple decades.
The foundation of all of these shifts and innovations is customer relationship management (CRM) programs. Pam explained why, saying, “CRM is the core of your business. It is how you know who your customers are, it's how you can talk to them. It's how you're going to maintain all of those relationships and it's how you're going to have the data to be able to book your in-home sales appointments.”
These CRM programs are just the beginning though. Once you have a strong CRM in place, you can begin building a larger tech stack. At its core, the goal of this is to make your daily business operations better serve your customers’ and employees’ needs. Pam elaborated, “It is the technology that you assemble to enable everybody to do their jobs better, to enable your business to run more efficiently.” She emphasized that a tech stack doesn’t look the same for every company or team. When implementing one, you must focus on how it works for you and your team specifically.
