Kool Seal Reflective Roof Coatings (KST) is a long-time industry leader in the reflective roof coating industry known for its innovation, quality and cutting-edge technology. Kool Seal’s brand strategy is to create “reflective cool roof coating and patching solutions for light commercial and residential projects,” while continuously exceeding customer expectations and needs.
Originally established in 1906 as Acorn & Refining, they focused on roof protection, restoration and innovation. In 1920, the name was changed to Kool Seal, and they introduced a line of roof coatings to address the needs of the residential market. They continue to design products that protect a building’s roof while also reducing interior temperatures to save energy.
KST created some of the most important innovations for the roof coating market. In 1954, they introduced the first aluminum reflective roof coating, which tapped into a niche market by addressing a significant need in the roofing industry - providing a solution that offered both functional and economic benefits. In 1984, they introduced their first elastomeric coating, which propelled the company forward by creating a product that addressed some of the missing pieces in roofing products, such as waterproofing, durability and energy efficiency. These two products marked milestones in the company's history, establishing KST as a trusted provider of innovative and effective roofing solutions.
Other companies recognized their innovation and cutting-edge designs, including Sherwin-Williams, North America’s largest coating manufacturer, who acquired KST in 2005. The next year, in 2006, KST celebrated its 100th year in the roof coating market!
Kool Seal Coatings is proud to celebrate 100 years of operation and looks forward to setting new standards for customer satisfaction.
