The universe of coatings is much bigger than you think. In this CoatingsCast webinar, Fernando Silva from Pli-Dek stopped by to talk to Heidi J. Ellsworth about the importance of waterproof coatings. While Fernando has been working with Pli-Dek for around eight years now, the company has been in the coatings industry since 1980.
He started the conversation sharing about what Pli-Dek's coatings can do. “We try to keep it simple. We obviously want to keep water, moisture and things like that out of the interior of the building,” he explained. This might seem like a basic function, but it is necessary in many different spaces. The most obvious is on the roof where water is a hazard that can cause mold, dry rot and more. But there are other areas where waterproof coatings can help! Fernando explained, “Most of the time you're going to see us on a lot of the commercial building aspects such as exterior decks as well as the breezeways and the hallways. But we use them around pool decks, over living spaces and below grade waterproofing.”
This type of coating use is everywhere around us, which is why Pli-Dek ensures that their installers are prepared for every scenario. They do this through their certified installers program. “Because contractors or applicators that are using our products are certified installers, we can kind of control the quality of the installation,” Fernando explained. “That way if you have a building owner or someone else that's wanting to use or utilize our systems out in their homes or their buildings, the person installing these systems is completely aware of all the details, of all the potential issues and they're actually certified installers using our products.”
