Roofing recruiters to the rescue

Hi-Peak Roofing recruiters to the rescue
July 19, 2024 at 6:00 a.m.

By Emma Peterson.

Learn how professional recruiters are helping individuals and the industry.

The labor shortage has been a hot topic in the roofing industry for years now, and contractors are still struggling to find skilled workers. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Karen Edwards sat down with Kristin and Tony Case of Hi-Peak Staffing to discuss this issue and how roofing recruiters like themselves can help.

Tony and Kristin are a husband-and-wife business duo that run Hi-Peak Staffing. Kristin has a background in recruitment, as she explained, “I come from an agency background of 15 years in recruiting. I started as an HR manufacturing IT recruiter and then about 10 years ago, just like everyone else, I fell into roofing, and I've been here ever since.” On the other hand, Tony’s background involves sales and marketing. It’s now been four years since the duo struck out on their own with Hi-Peak Staffing and they now proudly call themselves roofing recruiters.

Their jobs as roofing recruiters focus on helping both employees and employers. Tony elaborated, “When you don't have skilled workers and have vacancies, we're seeing contractors must increase bids. We're seeing other employees have to accept additional roles. We're seeing quite a bit of morale drop when that does happen.”

To mitigate this issue, Tony and Kristin work day-in and day-out to connect skilled workers with contractors. Kristin explained a bit of what this looks like, saying, “We take an intake call with new clients struggling to fill vacancies. There, we learn who they are, what their pain points are, we go through what their company culture is, what are the skills that the candidate must have to be successful in this role and then really evaluate a full job description.” Once they have a good image of what the company is looking for, and determine it's a good fit for them, Kristin and Tony present five applicants to the company to be interviewed within 10 days, knowing how important a quick turnaround is for these businesses.
