It is a special thing for so many people to come together in support of one another. After a few decades, a roof becomes worn down and in need of repair. Replacing the roof of one’s house can be a daunting task, especially considering the cost. With the help of several programs, these roofers were able to repair several roofs for community members. These everyday heros teamed up to help three veterans in need.
1 – Monarch Roofing and LeFonza Wilson
Recently, LeFonza Wilson was selected for Monarch Roofing’s Roofs For Troops” program. This free giveaway allowed LeFonza to fix up his home with a new roof. When asked about the project he told WFXB, “This just means everything. It’s a blessing.”
LeFonza had spent five years in service as a Marine. He served two years in Iraq. During that time, he performed valiantly against an armed enemy and was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. Before he was honorably discharged, he received the Combat Action Ribbon and the War on Terrorism Service Medal for his service.
With the help of BEST Cleaning and Disposal, Tarinelli Transitions and Melton Electric, LeFonza’s home was renovated. “The community means absolutely everything, and we just want to give back as much as we possibly can,” said Alexis Leath from Monarch Roofing.

2 - Reliant Roofing and Richard Haddix
The Jacksonville resident, Richard Haddix, was awarded a new roof as a part of the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Program at no cost. “We haven’t had a new roof since we moved in,” Renco Santos, Richard’s son, told News 4 JAX. He explained that during rainstorms their roof would leak.
Owens Corning collaborated with Reliant Roofing to provide Richard with a leak-free roof. The repair was estimated to cost around $18,000. “We want to say thank you to Mr. Richard for his service,” said Mirio Chaves, the product manager of Reliant Roofing. “We just want to give back to the community and that is a priority for Reliant.”

3 – WeatherPro Exteriors and David Wujcik
WeatherPro Exteriors worked tirelessly to give David Wujcik the roof of his dreams. On Friday April 5, 2024, David had his roof replaced for free thanks to the Owens Corning Roofing Deployment Project. "This should last me for at least 20 to 25 years," David said to FOX 6 Milwaukee.
David was a U.S. Navy Veteran. After his service, he became an overseas photojournalist. Despite his years of service, he shared, “I live on social security, and I couldn’t afford to put a roof on this house.". Now with the help of Owens Corning, he does not have to worry about the burden of purchasing a new roof.
