Vision drives success in roofing service divisions

Centerpoint Connect Vision drives success in roofing service divisions
August 25, 2024 at 12:00 a.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

Attaining the goals of your service division requires coordination, consistency and a shift in culture.

In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, hosted by Heidi J. Ellsworth, listeners learn the importance of a clear vision when building and expanding service divisions within the roofing industry. Heidi was joined by Will Riley of Centerpoint Connect and Chad Westbrook of Service Alignment, and their conversation explores how a clear, well-defined vision can make or break a service division’s success.

A company’s service division needs to be more than just an afterthought — it requires strategic planning and a clear direction. Chad stresses this point, saying, "if you're a leader or a manager, whatever it is, you got to start with the vision, you got to understand where you're going. Otherwise, you're going to constantly break it and have to rebuild it." This top-down approach ensures that the service division is not just another department but a critical component of the company’s strategy.

This vision is not just internally focused; it also has to resonate with the needs of customers. As Chad explains, regarding the implementation of maintenance programs, "Your customer's paying you for something and getting nothing because they don't have a leak, they don't have a problem... Their perception is their reality."

Will builds on this by discussing the cultural challenges companies face when integrating a service division. "You can't just copy and paste what you already have. It's a completely different animal," Will notes. Recognizing the need for a shift in values and adoption of practices aligned with your company's new needs and expectations. He continues, “I think from a culture standpoint, yeah a very diverse set of people in order to run, ultimately the whole organization.”
