Why choose restoration? Benefits that speak for themselves

KARNAK why choose restoration?
May 20, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.

By Dani Sheehan.

From expanding your business to less cost and maintenance for your customers, coating restoration systems are good for everyone. This episode of CoatingsTalk™ takes a deep dive into roof restoration.

In a recent episode of CoatingsTalk™, Heidi J. Ellsworth sits down with Chris Huettig of KARNAK to discuss the success of and need for restoring and maintaining roofs to improve your business, keep your customers happy and protect the environment. Chris describes the lifecycle of different roofs and how to maintain them through every stage.

Roof coatings are still a relatively new technology for the industry, but Chris shares that everyone is talking about them more recently. He explains KARNAK in particular, “Our chemistries have evolved over the years. We're really being recognized as having fluid applied systems that are durable and flexible and dependable. So, I think all that kind of buzz has really helped create good backing and support for the coatings restoration industry.”

When asked about the different benefits, sustainability aspects and other parts of roof restoration, Chris starts, “I want to think about the answers from the building owner's perspective. But as a contractor, you want to hear that because those become your selling points of how you then go to market to sell a building owner on a coating restoration system. The first [benefit] is cost. Usually, all building owners have tight budgets, they never have enough in their budget for roofing unfortunately.”

According to Chis, restoration systems are anywhere from a quarter to a third of the cost of re-roofing a commercial building. If you lead with this benefit, your customer will really be paying attention when you dive into all the other associated advantages.

Another benefit, equally important to building owners, is a lack of disruption from a coatings solution. Chris explains, “Some customers have a building where there's manufacturing going on inside or activities that they can't shut down. It could be a school where they can't shut classes down or a hospital where they just can't turn out the doors to let you do your work on top. So whatever roofing that can be done, if it's less disruptive, again, it's more advantageous to them to look at that alternative.”

These selling points are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the advantages of restoration. Read the transcript, Listen to the podcast or Watch the webinar to see for yourself.
