Pli-Dek’s certified applicator program takes waterproofing to the next level with support and training

Pli-Dek has been supplying the industry with high-quality and high-performing commercial waterproofing solutions for over 35 years. Over those decades, they have innovated safer and more effective coatings along with developing the service and support departments to make sure they succeed in the field. In an episode of CoatingsCast, Fernando Silva of Pli-Dek joined Heidi J. Ellsworth to talk about the support they have created around their quality products.  

One of the biggest initiatives Pli-Dek runs is their certified applicators program. Fernando explained, “We want to always make sure that all our contractors or applicators that are using our products are certified applicators, so we know the quality of the installation. This is also good for building owners who want to use or utilize our systems. This program means that they are confident that the person that's installing these systems is completely aware of all the details and of all the potential issues.”

And the program is a great way for everyone to learn more about coatings on a whole. Fernando shared a bit about how it works, saying, “We have a group of people like myself who can personally train the applicator. We will take the time free of charge to go ahead and show them everything they need to know about Pli-Dek and what components to use for different aspects of the waterproofing application, whether it's up on the roof itself, on the cantilever decks, over living space or even on the side of the walls for exterior grade waterproofing.” During this training session, the applicator will get to learn everything from the basics, like what substrates are good candidates for a Pli-Dek coating, to the more complicated regulatory factors, like ADA compliance.  

The best part is that the Pli-Dek team’s support of these applicators doesn’t stop once they’re certified. Fernando explained, “We always answer our phones. We're always there for their hard questions, especially when they have a weird detail. I can pick up the phone and if I don't know, I have a group of people who can help me get that information for the professional in the field.”
