With Progressive Materials, the journey is as important as the finished product

In the coatings industry, Progressive Materials is known for their high-quality silicone coatings, primers and accessories. Their products are trusted by professionals all over the industry and have delivered consistent results year after year. For this episode of  CoatingsCast, Megan Ellsworth spoke to Jeff Romero about how they support contractors using their coatings to create high-performance finished products.

Jeff explained what the team at Progressive Materials defines as a finished product, saying, “Whenever I hear finished product, my mind immediately goes to finishing the job, walking away with confidence and understanding and knowing that what you just did was the right solution for that roof or that situation. And I think what leads up to the finished product is as important as the finished product itself.” This lead up, the journey to the finished product, includes things like vetting the roof, choosing the right solutions for it and then executing the installation properly.

Throughout all these steps, the team at Progressive Materials aims to support their contractors. Jeff explained, “We don't just make silicone and send it out into the world and hope that people are using it correctly. We're as involved as our contractors want us to be.” This dedication to being partners with their contractors, working with them on their projects, stems from two places. First, Progressive materials was built by a contractor and many members of their team today still have a roofing background. They understand the challenges contractors face, know that every roof is unique and want to help make that process smoother.  

Second, they know that no matter how good of a product they create, if their contractors don’t have the support through the entire process, the finished product will not stand up. Jeff elaborated, “You can have a great finished product, but two weeks later, three months later, whatever it might be, start having issues if you didn't execute correctly or qualify correctly. So I think it all goes back to the work we do on the front end, to lead to a good finished product. If there's any time during the job that our contractors don't know what to do or they might have a question, they're just not confident, we will get involved to help.”
